Getting Carried Away with DIY Duct Tape

On: Friday, August 27, 2010

There are lots of great uses for duct tape.

You can use it in your home, around the yard, on your car, at work, and even on ducts. Duct tape has become an obsession for many people too and the DIY duct tape fad has taken on a life of it's own.

Here are a few DIY duct tape projects that may or may not have gone a little too far.
You be the judge...

1) A Crib
It's hard to say if this is hilarious or if we should be concerned for this baby's safety.

Fortunately duct tape is very strong so she should be safe!

2) A Couch

Here is a DIY duct tape couch. Instead of springing for new upholstery this person decided to cover their old couch in duct tape.

It looks quite interesting but is it comfy?

3) A Bike

This one is more cruel than anything else. In fact, it's not even DIY, it looks like it's just a prank that someone did on a friend. I'm pretty sure that bike wont be moving for a while.

4) iPad Case

This surprisingly stylish iPad case was made with only duct tape.

It's a very resourceful case but it might take slightly longer to make than it would be to purchase one.

Sometime the best part of DIY is the D part though.

5) Toilet Paper

Sometimes DIY and duct tape just shouldn't go together and do-it-yourself duct tape toilet paper is a perfect example of that kind of situation.

Not only is duct tape fairly expensive, it's also sticky, slow, and probably the last thing you'd want to use in the bathroom. Keep making duct tape clothing and accessories people but maybe skip the duct tape toilet paper.

Recycled Tire Furniture

On: Friday, May 14, 2010

Car and bike tires appear to be the easiest to recycle. There are tons of things that can be created from tires.

Today' DIY project is the best proof for that: tire furniture looks like it is convenient, stylish and usable - what a great combination!

We've seen plenty of paper-based handbags so far: candy wrappers purse, a tetrapak coin purse, cool newspaper handbag, etc. Today's one is a valuable addition.

This newspaper handbag (UrthBag) looks really stylish. I guess that's really the matter of wrapping:

Recycled Car Tires Sandals

On: Monday, May 10, 2010

We've already shared an idea on creating plastic bottle sandals as well as DIY tire sandals. Today's piece of recycling inspiration is somewhat similar.

The essential difference though is that these sandals use much more convenient and thus this idea is much more usable: enjoy!

DIY Photo Holder

This is one of those DIY gadgets that will save your life and will take you just a couple of minutes. Actually those are my favorite finds: nothing fancy but really useful.

You can actually elaborate further and use other stuff you have at home to hold the photo using the concept. Enjoy!

(Creepy) Dolls Chandelier

I am actually not sure which interior design would match such a chandelier. It needs definitely a home with no children ('cause kids will be hurt by its look).

Anyway, the dolls chandelier is our today's find. Many people, many tastes - and I am sure someone will love it!
